If the world of engineering does fascinate you, then this is the perfect course for you. The focus is on developing your knowledge application, experimental, research and practical engineering techniques. Whilst preparing you to professionally present your findings and demonstrate these essential skills. You’ll be using industry-standard technology as you work on exciting practical projects, studying a diverse range of engineering areas such as fabrication and welding, machining, electrical, maintenance, and manufacturing. You will cover content including pneumatics, welding techniques, manufacturing processes, electrical systems (industry motors and drives), PLCs, steam and refrigeration systems, it’s the perfect start to a career in engineering.
Diploma in Engineering Technologies Level 3 comes with considerable academic content preparing you for a potential future at a University; as well as the expected maths and science there will be units covering project management, design, engineering drawing, business and quality systems; arming you with an academic background to take on any challenge.
At Cornwall College, we have enthusiastic and highly skilled engineering tutors who are fully committed to helping you develop the skills, knowledge and experience needed to become a fully qualified engineer.
Subjects covers include:
• Manufacturing, both Computer-aided and manual.
• Design, CAD and hand drafting.
• Welding theory and practical.
• Electrical and electronic principles
• Mechanical Principles
• Mathematics
• CNC (Computerized Numerical Control)
• Pneumatics
• Health and safety and environmental considerations
Engineering is an extremely creative and stimulating occupation that will offer you the opportunity to be involved in both current and emerging technologies. As a successful engineer, you will not be just a technical expert but must also become an excellent communicator and team player.
• Four or more GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including English and/or Maths, or successful completion of a relevant Level 2 qualification.
• Functional Skills Level 2 in English and/or Maths will be considered as alternatives to GCSE, but a GCSE resit may be required depending on grade.
Entry requirements for existing learners with the Cornwall College Group
• Successful completion of previous course and maths and/or English at GCSE Grade 4 or Functional Skills Level 2.
