Introduction To Vehicle Technology

Do you love cars? Always have your head under the bonnet, tuning an engine? Want to take that passion and turn it into a career, working with cars day in, day out? Then look no further, because we have the course for you. This introductory course is the perfect starting point if you want a job working with cars but need to develop your literacy and numeracy skills before progressing onto some of our more advanced automotive courses. It’s all about practical learning, with lessons delivered in our fantastic workshop facilities, where you’ll see what life is like in a working garage. You’ll improve your understanding of vehicles and the automotive industry, giving you plenty of experience before you decide what you want to study next. You may want to work in vehicle maintenance and repair, vehicle fitting, or paint and bodywork – whatever takes your interest, this course is the perfect place to start. If you can’t get enough of cars and have your sights set on becoming a mechanic, then this is the course for you and will be your first step in a career in automotive engineering. Because this is an introductory course, you’ll do a little bit of everything when it comes to cars. This will help you prepare for progression onto the Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair diploma. You’ll get a better idea of the career you want when you’re out on the workshop floor, trying different things every day. YMCA Awards Level 2 Exercise to Music (freestyle)

This qualification is specifically for learners who are aspiring to progress to an exciting and highly rewarding career as an Exercise to Music Instructor on an employed or self-employed basis. This qualification is mapped directly to The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) professional standard for a Core Group Exercise Instructor and The Register of Exercise Professionals National Occupational Standards for Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction (Exercise to Music) and is your first step towards a career as an Exercise to Music Instructor in just 2 terms!* This course combines elements of both practical and theoretical learning where you will have the opportunity to apply the theory in our on-campus, fully equipped, sprung-floor dance studio. Our industry-experienced lecturers are all fully qualified and practicing professionals themselves and will guide you every step of the way, enabling you to progress towards a career as an Exercise to Music Instructor. You’ll be learning everything industry requires from designing bespoke classes to developing skills when instructing. You will cover everything that makes up a session including warm ups through to the main component as well as body weight exercises. In essence, you’ll be developing all of the essential skills you need to start your journey towards a career as an Exercise to Music Instructor. If you want to work in the fitness industry as an Exercise to Music Instructor, our course is for you. Taking place over just two terms, part-time, you will study the elements required to plan, deliver and evaluate exercise to music-based sessions to clients within a gym or health club facility. Our highly-skilled and motivated staff have a wealth of industry experience and are here to give you the very best start to your career as an Exercise to Music Instructor.

Painting a Riverbank in Watercolour or Acrylic Beginners Workshop

On this workshop you will learn the basic techniques of drawing and watercolour or acrylic painting. You will gain an understanding of composition and use of colour so you can develop your own style within these exiting mediums. All will improve with friendly individual tuition. You will be required to provide your own materials for this workshop and a suggested materials list will be provided nearer the start date. This is a FREE* workshop - book now so you don't miss out! * This workshop will be free for students who will be 19+ as of 31.08.21 and have not attended the workshop before. If you have already attended this workshop and wish to repeat it a fee will apply. This workshop runs on a Saturday from 9.30am to 4.00pm for 1 day. The Hub Coffee Shop

Located in the large Trelawney building in the centre of the campus, all students have access to a dedicated shop and coffee bar.  Here students can find essential stationery supplies, art equipment, food and drinks, gifts, greeting cards, stamps and a wide selection of gadgets including USB sticks and earphones. The shop accepts card payments (minimum £3 spend).

The Cornwall College Student Union (CCSU) exists to represent your voice and views at every level in the College and to make sure you have a fantastic time while you are a student studying with us.

Every campus has a team of elected students who work hard all year round on your behalf, from organising parties, to running campaigns and arranging volunteering opportunities including helping young people in Kenya.

You can get involved in a huge range of activities and have the power to determine what happens on campus. We go on college trips that students pick to help enhance your student experience and we raise money for charities.

As a Cornwall College student, you are automatically a member of the Student Union, giving you access to our dedicated student areas where you can meet, chat and relax with friends.
