We offer one of the widest ranges of vocational courses from Aircraft Engineering to Visual Art, with all subject areas located in dedicated learning environments, giving you focused quality training with industry led programmes to deliver key skills. 

At Cornwall College Camborne our specialist courses will give you the right environment to explore, discover and progress.  Whether you are interested in catering, hairdressing, construction or media; our highly practical courses are designed to allow you to grow in confidence and ability, giving you the chance to progress to University study or employment. 

As well as full-time courses, we also offer apprenticeships across a wide range of subjects and we also provide professional qualifications for people looking to enhance their career prospects and aspirations. 

We are recognised as Cornwall’s #1 provider of construction trade skills, we manage one of the top 3 college restaurants in the UK, have an award-winning Games Design and Media department and we are the only college in Cornwall to offer Aeronautical Engineering; with our very own jet based at Newquay airport. 

While on campus, you can enjoy a wide variety of facilities including; a fully equipped gym, sports hall and all-weather football pitch, a commercial hair & beauty salon, student shop, restaurant coffee shop and all students have access to our Learning Centre, to help support your studies. 

You will also have the opportunity to join the Student Union, where you get to take part in trips, parties and campaigns as well as enjoy the latest in relaxing student spaces complete with Playstations, Xboxes, flat screen TV’s, comfy couches, music and more. 

Plus, when you join us, you will benefit from individual support from our Student Services Team. Picture Framing (DIY) Workshop

No Qualification • Part-time • Construction


This workshop will show you how to frame well on a budget. All aspects of the basic framing of paintings, photos etc will be covered. Learn about mount cards, mouldings, conservation, decorative finishes, box frames and lots more. Everyone can try their hand at mitre and bevel mount cutting and information of local sources of materials and tools will be provided. Please bring a pad and pen to make notes and any art work, frames or tools you may wish to discuss or need advice on. You will make a picture frame at this workshop - aprox A4 size. So please bring a small size image (postcard, photo or original artwork) that you can bevel mount and put in the frame so this will need to be smaller than A4 size. We suggest that you also bring a packed lunch and any other refreshments you may require. This is a FREE* workshop - so book your place now! (* There is a small materials fee of £5.00 payable when booking for this workshop) This workshop runs on a Saturday from 9.30am to 3.30pm for 1 day. Science GCSE

Level 2 • Part-time • GCSEs & Functional Skills


Twenty First Century Science Biology by OCR is the single award GCSE Science (Evening) course. The specifications will prepare learners for progression to further study of biology, whilst at the same time offering an engaging and satisfying course for those who choose not to study academic biology further. It is an ideal qualification for students thinking about a possible career in teaching or nursing where a Science GCSE at C / 4 or better is usually compulsory This course is ideal for you if you require an extra GCSE for entry into University. We recommend checking with the University for their entry requirements. You may be considering a career in this field or perhaps you just have an interest in this subject and would like to learn more. The course enables learners to develop an understanding of the concepts and models that scientists use to explain natural phenomena and how this links with the importance of experimental practices that quantifies and develops scientific understanding. The qualification is available at two tiers of entry. Higher Tier (Grades A*-D / 9-3) or Foundation Tier (Grades C-G / 4-1).

Diploma in Engineering Technologies

Level 3 • Full-time • Engineering

There’s no better place to start your career in this exciting industry than here at Cornwall College. If the world of engineering does fascinate you, then this is the perfect course for you. The focus is on developing your knowledge application, experimental, research and practical engineering techniques. Whilst preparing you to professionally present your findings and demonstrate these essential skills. You’ll be using industry-standard technology as you work on exciting practical projects, studying a diverse range of engineering areas such as fabrication and welding, machining, electrical, maintenance, manufacturing. You will cover content including pneumatics and hydraulics, welding techniques, manufacturing processes, electrical systems (industry motors and drives), PLCs, steam and refrigeration systems, it’s the perfect start to a career in engineering. Engineering at level 3 comes with a considerable academic content preparing you for a potential future at a University; as well as the expected maths and science there will be units covering project management, design, engineering drawing, business and quality systems; arming you with an academic background to take on any challenge. At Cornwall College we have enthusiastic and highly skilled engineering tutors who are fully committed to helping you develop the skills, knowledge and experience needed to becoming a fully qualified engineer. This course is offered at both Cornwall College St Austell and Cornall College Camborne. Our Camborne workshop features industry-standard equipment and kit. We have strong links with Pendennis and A&P ship yards and train all their apprentices and also PALL and SERCO for aero, so employers know an engineering qualification from The Cornwall College Group means you will start off in your career with the very best skills for an incredible journey in engineering.

Military and Protective Services Diploma

Level 3 • Full-time • Military & Protective Services Academy


If you are passionate about a career in the Armed Forces or Emergency Services and would love a job where everyday matters, then taking a step in the right direction on our Military and Protective Services course is the right choice for you. The first thing you’ll notice about this course is that it’s about practical learning, physical fitness, mental resilience and career exploration – you’ll be spending a lot of time outdoors exploring our amazing campus and excellent facilities. You’ll be exposed to a wide range of Uniformed Services employers and experience life in uniform daily at college and during your visits to numerous armed forces and emergency services training establishments. Our training wing features industry-standard equipment and a disciplined environment, exactly like an initial phase one training establishment. We have a strong collaborative relationship with the Royal Marines, British Army, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, Police, Fire Service, Prison Services and Private Security organisations. We will coach and mentor you through your bespoke career destination and application process, ensuring that you are confident and ready to enter the services on completion of our courses. The Hub Coffee Shop

Located in the large Trelawney building in the centre of the campus, all students have access to a dedicated shop and coffee bar.  Here students can find essential stationery supplies, art equipment, food and drinks, gifts, greeting cards, stamps and a wide selection of gadgets including USB sticks and earphones. The shop accepts card payments (minimum £3 spend).

Student Union

The Cornwall College Student Union (CCSU) exists to represent your voice and views at every level in the College and to make sure you have a fantastic time while you are a student studying with us.

Every campus has a team of elected students who work hard all year round on your behalf, from organising parties, to running campaigns and arranging volunteering opportunities including helping young people in Kenya.

You can get involved in a huge range of activities and have the power to determine what happens on campus. We go on college trips that students pick to help enhance your student experience and we raise money for charities.

As a Cornwall College student, you are automatically a member of the Student Union, giving you access to our dedicated student areas where you can meet, chat and relax with friends.

And if you really want a challenge, you can get even more involved and have your voice heard by running for a vice chair and student chair position, as well as helping to arrange our annual Student Star Awards.
