If you love promoting the holistic health and wellbeing of others, this is the course for you. This is a substantial vocational qualification that will prepare you for a career as an aromatherapist. The course encourages practical learning where you will spend time in our treatment rooms working on clients, learning as you go and perfecting your skills in a supportive and knowledgeable environment. It will enable you to work in industry within a healthcare setting, for yourself, with in a spa, salon or wellbeing centre.
This course is made up of four units:
Principals and Practice of Complementary Therapies - The aim of this unit is to develop your knowledge and understanding of the history and influences on the complementary therapy sector
Business Practice for Complementary Therapies - The aim of this unit is to develop your knowledge, understanding and practical skills in researching, planning, maintaining and marketing a business in the complementary therapy industry. You will also learn to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
Anatomy and physiology for Complementary Therapies - The aim of this unit is to develop your knowledge and understanding of anatomy, physiology and pathology.
Provide Aromatherapy for Complementary Therapies - The aim of this unit is to develop your knowledge, understanding and practical skills in carrying out aromatherapy treatments, using the techniques of blending essences and fixed carrier oils. As part of this unit you will learn in detail 19 carrier oils and 42 essential oils to enable you to develop bespoke treatment plans.
These skills combined will give you the enthusiasm to work in a rapidly growing industry, for yourself or in a health care setting.
You will learn the anatomy, physiology and pathologies in detail for each of the systems of the body.
As well as learning how to develop a bespoke treatment plan selecting from carrier oils and essential oils and using them within a massage, inhalations or compresses. By the end of the course you will feel confident to work with a wide range of clients situations.
Principals and practice of complementary therapies assignment, include three outcomes
Business practice of complementary therapies assignment, includes 3 outcomes
Anatomy and physiology includes twelve assignments and 2 hour exam
Aromatherapy includes completion of 60 treatments written up including reflection and three final observations.
You will be well supported whilst achieving this criteria.
