This is an exciting project where you can develop your gardening skills and knowledge in a quiet area of the St Austell campus. Learning spaces include a polytunnel, outdoor planting areas and a classroom.

You will learn how to plant seeds, propagate and grow a variety of plants, herbs and vegetables whilst being mindful of the local habitats and conservation.

You will be encouraged to focus on areas of interest to you with tutor support.

The tutor will give you guidance to achieve your goals which you can adapt to make your own creations by considering design, form and function.

The Road to Wellbeing courses are relaxed and informal, enabling you to improve your wellbeing and mental health, building your self-confidence and self-esteem. Attending our classes is a great way of meeting new people, making friends and developing personal and vocational skills

Duration - 8-12 weeks - 1 day per week

You will be expected to attend each session.

The course will include aspect such as: how to plant seeds, propagate and grow a variety of plants, herbs and vegetables whilst being mindful of the local habitats and conservation.

Our courses are for anyone aged 19+ who is experiencing or recovering from mental ill-health.

There are no tests or exams. Whilst the outcomes include developing gardening skills and knowledge the main intent is to improve your wellbeing whilst taking part in a learning activity. We ask you to score this on a scale of 1-5 at the beginning and end of the course.

You will have the opportunity to progress to Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications within Community Health or on to other courses, training or employment.
