Graduation Ceremony 2023

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to attend our formal graduation ceremony at Truro Cathedral on Friday 10th November.

You must complete the event registration process by 29th September. You will not be able to attend your ceremony if you do not meet this deadline.

Event registration, gowning orders, ticket sales and photography are all managed through Marston Events website

Tickets
To attend your graduation ceremony, you must book your place by 29th September. Book your place here.

Your ticket to graduation is free of charge, however, you must wear an academic gown, which can be hired through Marston Events website.

Guest tickets
You can request up to two guests’ tickets, which cost £10 per guest when you book initially. You can request extra guest tickets at the same time, however these will not be released until a few weeks after the booking deadline closes (29th September 2023). You will be notified by email when additional tickets are available.

Children are welcome to attend, although you can make use of the live stream from the comfort of your own home, if you feel your children will become restless during the ceremony. Children under the age of two may sit on a guests lap and do not require a purchased ticket.

Hiring your gown
Gowns, hoods and hats must be ordered online via the Marston Events website.
The deadline for ordering gowns is the 29th September 2023.

Please note:
• We ask that you wear smart clothing under your robe; jeans, t-shirts and other casual attire are not considered appropriate for graduation ceremonies.
• Please bring safety pins and hair grips with you to help keep your hood and hat in place.

When booking your gown please have the following details ready:
• Height
• Hat size (circumference of your head taken just above your ears)
• Chest/Waist measurements
• Qualification
• Date and time of your ceremony

Photography
Photography packages are available to book with your initial online booking with Marston Events or on the day.

Additionally, photos of you receiving your award will be available to purchase on the day straight after your ceremony.

A college photographer will be taking pictures before, during, and after the ceremony. If you do not wish to have your picture taken, please let an usher or other member of college staff know.

Seating
When you arrive for registration you will be given a seating card with your seat number on it.

Once in the cathedral, you must follow the seating plan and sit in the seat designated to you (marked by a seat card with your name on) because students are assembled by award and alphabetical order. Do not lose or damage your seat card, you need to give it to the usher when your turn comes to receive your award.

Special requirements – If you or any of your guests require assisted seating please contact our graduation team at graduation@cornwall.ac.uk

Please note that your guests sit separately from you to facilitate the conferment of the awards.

Accessibility
During your initial online booking you will be asked if you or your guests have any special requirements. We may contact you ahead of the day to discuss in more detail.

Disabled parking – unfortunately there is no parking at the cathedral, you are welcome to drop of any member of your party at the front of the cathedral and park in the local carparks.

BSL interpreter – if you require an interpreter please let us know when you book and we can make the relevant arrangements.

Induction loop system – The cathedral can supply a hearing loop. Please let us know when booking if you require this service.

Assistant dogs are welcome, please let use know when booking if you or one of your guests will be bringing an assisted dog.

Assisted seating – If you or your guests require special requirements for seating please let us know when you book and we will make the relevant arrangements.

Returning robes
After the ceremony and drinks reception please return your robe to the designated gown return area inside the cathedral. Please ensure your gown is returned by 5pm on Friday 10th November.
