Dry Stone Walling

A two day course is for anyone who would like to learn how to build stone walls or would like to improve their existing skills. This is a practical course. You will cover health and safety, tools, techniques and learn how to build a stone wall . You will have the various types of walling explained to you and you will discuss the skills involved. As the Team Captain Alison has represented her team at several Etsy Team Captains’ Summits in UK and Italy and organises Etsy Made Local Christmas events in Cornwall. A common problem reported amongst Etsy sellers is that they set up an Etsy shop without much planning and research, and are surprised and disappointed when they don't make any sales. Via this online course you can use this workshop to critique your own shops and make sure that you have optimised your shop to its best potential by following the comprehensive sessions/ The sessions will be delivered via Microsoft Teams.

This is a 6-week course where you will learn the basics of jewellery making in consecutive weekly classes. The course is designed for those who are completely new to jewellery making or those who wish to refresh on the basics. You will learn about the tools required for jewellery making as well as being shown how to use them in a safe and proper manner. We will cover all the basic techniques through tutor lead demonstrations including saw piercing, texturing, soldering, doming and finishing. Bring along a sketchbook or something for taking notes and making rough designs, don’t be afraid to bring along some project ideas too! Cost for the workshop consumables and your first project will be £25, payable in advance, if further materials are required your tutor will advise on best suppliers you to purchase.

Hedge Laying

Award In Aerial Cutting Of Trees Using Free-Fall Techniques

Level 3 • Part-time • Bicton College


This course runs over 3 days – 2 days training followed by assessment on Day 3. You will need to be fully competent in the use of a chainsaw and have a full set of personal protective clothing complying with current Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements. Applicants must be aged sixteen or older and hold the following NPTC Certificates of Competence: Chainsaw Maintenance – CS30 Small Tree Felling – CS31 Climb Tree and Perform Aerial Rescue – CS38 Proof of pre-qualifications must be emailed/posted to the college before the course start date as evidence. Other awarding body qualifications must be submitted to check if they are compatible with this NPTC course.
