It has been designed to deliver a high level of knowledge about the engineering industry as well as the occupational skills required to enter the industry (known as ‘threshold competence’). A learner who completes this qualification is well placed to develop to full occupational competence with the correct support and training.

Throughout the course you will:
• Learn about electrical and electronic systems and devices.
• Experience working in an engineering environment.
• Plan and carry out a project in engineering maintenance techniques.
• Bring your English and Maths grades up to a grade 5 (where required).
• Learn through project-based and practical teaching.
• Understand key engineering and manufacturing skills and knowledge.

Entry requirements for external applicants and school leavers
• Four or more GCSEs at grade 5 or above, including English and maths.

Entry requirements for existing learners with the Cornwall College Group
• Successful completion of previous course and, where relevant, progress in English and/or maths

Please note: Some of our courses may have extra entry requirements or need a bit more information, like evidence or experience. Don't worry - we’ll guide you through everything when you apply!

An industry placement of 315 – 350 hours (45 – 50 days).

Assessment will include practical assignments and multiple choice tests.

The foundation T Level offers students a pathway into completing a full T Level. This programme will be delivered holistically as project-based learning, to provide students with the key theory and practical ability to successfully manage and complete projects. Students will also work towards achieving a grade 5 (formerly grade C) in English and Maths.

Upon successful completion of their Foundation T Level, students will be able to progress onto the higher-level T Level or an apprenticeship.
