If you’ve ever had a fascination for how things are made, or improving the way something works, then a career in engineering could be for you. This course is your first introduction to the world of engineering, where you’ll develop the essential skills and discover the different opportunities that a hi-tech career can offer. The engineering programme at Level 1 is best suited if you are considering a career in Engineering. The course will provide you with the essential core skills required as an engineer. You will gain exposure to a real life engineering workshop and undertake practical assessments using relevant industry equipment and technology. You will also learn how to work within a team and develop on your literacy and numeracy skills.
You will be using traditional engineering equipment commonly found in many engineering and manufacturing employers in Cornwall.
At Cornwall College we have enthusiastic and highly skilled engineering tutors who are fully committed to helping you develop the skills, knowledge and experience needed to becoming a fully qualified engineer.

Electrical Installation & Testing
• Two or more GCSEs at Grade 2 or above, or successful completion of Entry Level Qualification.
• Learners with relevant industry experience but no GCSEs at Grade 2 may be considered based on interview.
Entry requirements for existing learners with the Cornwall College Group
• Successful completion of previous course and, where relevant, progress in maths and/or English.
