HNC Health, Welfare & Social Sciences - Part-time

This programme is designed for individuals wishing to study health and social care in the community. It is for two years at Level 4 and is the first year of a foundation or honours degree. The modules studied include Sociological Perspectives, Professional Practice, Developmental Psychological, Safeguarding & Promotion of Welfare, Equality, Diversity & Rights, Health, Welfare & Social Policy. You will be given the opportunity to enhance your knowledge base as the emphasis is on supporting future careers in the health and social care field and for further study. The programme provides a wide range of teaching styles, assessment and work-related learning. As part of your study you will be expected to undertake a minimum of 60 hours work related learning in a voluntary or paid capacity. This should be in a health and social care environment. You will need to have a current Disclosure and Barring Service check in order to undertake this work. The programme is over one day a week for two academic years. Students will benefit from the Health and Social Care department’s excellent links with agencies and organisations that specialise in health and community services and projects.

Site Carpentry

This course could change your life it’s an active well paid job your after and you want to travel the world. The course will enable you to take your carpentry skills far beyond the usual DIY level and give you an understanding of general building construction along with the part a carpenter plays in the construction of al sorts of buildings. The course will enable you to work confidently in a construction related work place. All of our training takes place in a construction related environment and with carpentry you’ll be working on your own timber frame house either in our large workshops or outside to add a bit more site realism to the course. We have a large range to tools and equipment for you to practice with, you’ll also have access during the course to our wood machine shop to experience the machines we have. Your teaching will be delivered by highly experienced qualified trades people who have many years’ experience of working in the construction industry.

There are over 3000 construction companies based in Cornwall, alone; employing 30,000 workers. In the last 5 years over £2 billion has been spent on construction projects in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly, with a further £1.3 billion to be invested over the next few years. There will always be a need for skilled workers within this sector. The Level 1 Diploma in Construction Multiskills is aimed at those with little or no experience in construction. It is your starting point to an interesting and varied career within the construction industry. Learners will be assessed using a combination of internally set and assessed units, and externally set and assessed units. The aim of this course is to: • Help develop the learner’s range of skills and techniques • Build confidence • Achieve a nationally recognised qualification • Progress into employment within the construction sector • Progress onto related vocational qualifications In addition to the course, we also give our learners the opportunity to work towards gaining their CSCS Labourer card (Green Card). This is an industry-recognised qualification, which will allow learners to progress into employment, an apprenticeship or onto the next level course to help gain further qualifications. Lunging and long-reining

Dental Nursing Advanced Apprenticeship

From a general check-up to root canal work, as a dental nurse you will be required to have a reassuring and caring nature as it will be your job to look after the patients.
