Safe Use Of Pesticides PA1 & PA2

This course will enhance understanding, and enable successful students to legally spray their own land, or that of their employer, using Boom Mounted Sprayers.
The first day will consist of the PA1 theory training, with an online test in the afternoon. This covers the storage, handling and application of pesticides.
The second day is the PA2 Boom Mounted Sprayer training; with an allocated timeslot on the third day to take the PA2 assessment.
The qualification to be gained is a Level 2 City & Guilds lifetime-qualification.

This short course is designed for mature students (19+) who have a passion and interest for British Wildlife and Conservation who wish to learn more about this subject and why it is an important part of the animal care industry. This short course is an introduction into wildlife and conservation which will enable learners to recognise a range of habitats and energy links between plants and animals. It will involve practical elements such as animal and plant surveys along with learning the theory such as understanding the climate and how this can affect the plant and animal life. Learners will also be looking at the food chain and how plants provide energy for the animals feeding behaviours. The course will examine wildlife conservation and terms associated with this as well as investigating a range of different habitat types and their characteristics. It will explore the influences on different sites such as population, pollution which will discuss how humans can impact wildlife and conservation efforts. It will go into detail about the producers, primary consumers, secondary consumer and tertiary consumer and how the change in population effects the consumers and what this might mean. It is important to understand the process of decomposition and how this works in relation to the “natural clean up” when exploring conservation efforts. In order for the learner to successfully complete this course it will involve some independent learning to full fill the commitment of the course and it will be assessed through the completion of a portfolio of evidence and this will also include some practical aspect such as habitat surveys. The following topics will be covered:
• An introduction to dog grooming; learn how to carry out a basic bath and groom.
• An introduction to wildlife and conservation by taking a walk through our natural woodlands, parklands and lake; learn how to observe nature and the environment.
• An overview of canine care, training and husbandry; learn how to best care for and train your canine friend.
These topics could then lead onto courses that are directly linked to qualifications to suit your next career move or interests.
Help with applying for the next courses will be offered on the day and some time will also be spent on the day carrying out initial assessments to ensure we can support you with an specific skills around English and maths that would be required for the next courses we offer.

Dog Training and Husbandry Award Level 2

This course will be run over 7 days (Fridays for 7 weeks) and learners will need to build a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate their understanding of the topics covered. There will be both written and practical elements, and learners may be required to complete some work at home. This course would be suitable for pet owners, as well as those that work within the canine industry and could be funded depending on personal circumstances.

Safe Use Of Pesticides PA1 & PA6

This course will enhance understanding, and enable successful students to legally spray their own land, or that of their employer, using Pedestrian Handheld Applicator Equipment (knapsack).
The first day will consist of the PA1 theory training, with an online test in the afternoon. This covers the storage, handling, and application of pesticides.
The second day is the PA6 Handheld Applicator training; there is then an allocated timeslot on the third day to take the PA6 assessment.
The qualification to be gained is a Level 2 City & Guilds lifetime-qualification.
The following PPE will be needed for the training:
Clean wellington boots (for the PA6)
Clean coverall spray suit (for the PA6)
Nitrile gloves (for the PA6)
Face shield (for the PA6)
