College launches appeal to give students in need a brighter Christmas

Cornwall College Camborne is calling on local businesses to help bring festive cheer to learners who may find the holiday season difficult.

The campus is collecting donated gifts for students in need, which will be handed out by Santa during a one-day event designed to offer a positive moment at a time that can feel challenging.

“We want every learner to feel supported and included,” said Luke Bazeley, Deputy Principal for General Further Education at the college.

“Some of our young people face barriers that many never see, and a simple gesture can make a real difference. The local business community has always been generous and we’re grateful for any support they can offer.”

Donations can be dropped at Cornwall College Camborne’s main reception from Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00, until 12 December.

The appeal focuses on students with the greatest needs, with staff and support teams working together to distribute gifts so that each learner receives something appropriate and thoughtful.

The college welcomes contributions of any size, though toiletries, stationery, small electronics, books, clothing accessories and gift sets are particularly helpful.

Businesses that would like to speak to someone about the appeal or discuss how they can support are welcome to call the campus directly on 0330 123 2523.

“Every donation, no matter the size, helps us give students a moment of warmth and encouragement at a time they need it most”, Luke added.

“The response from the community has always been incredibly generous, and we’re hopeful that this year’s support will help even more young people feel valued over Christmas.”
