Meeting Future Industry Needs Today

More news from CCB Training

In a demonstration of meticulous industry collaboration, a number of local businesses joined Cornwall College for the “Skills for Tomorrow” event at Trevenson Restaurant on the Camborne campus.

The gathering served as a platform for profound discussions on industry requirements and The Cornwall College Group’s (TCCG) strategic role in producing a workforce of the future.

Director of Business Development & Partnerships at TCCG, Tony Marshall, lead the event, alongside Luke Bazeley, head of campus, with engaging discussion on industry demands and how the Group is working with employers to bridge the skills gaps in the region.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the day, Tony said: “This fantastic event was a unique opportunity for us to engage with local employers and ask them what we, as a College, can do to support the needs of the future.”

Echoing the success of the day, Luke stated: “We are passionate in creating bespoke learning environment, ensuring each student is equipped with the best knowledge, training and employability opportunities to lead accomplished careers. It’s equally as important to maintain strong industry links, as demonstrated recently.”

Commenting on the day, guest speaker and entrepreneur, Julian Chenoweth from Recycle it Global UK, said: “This is the only college provider I know that talks to its employers and seeks our guidance to ensure the courses they deliver align with the industry needs and future-proofing skill development. I am extremely passionate to work with TCCG and help inspire the next generation of innovative thinkers, with top training gained at the Group.”

For guest speaker Eric Nicholls from Spiral UK and Chairman of the Cornwall Manufacturing Group, “fostering local talent is not just a strategic imperative but a commitment to the sustainable growth of our community.”

“The Cornwall Manufacturing Group stands as a pivotal advocate for the region’s manufacturing sector, driving innovation, collaboration and excellence. It was great to be a part of the ‘Skills for Tomorrow’ event at the Camborne campus and have an opportunity to address the evolving needs of the industry and continue fostering symbiotic relationship between The Cornwall College Group and local businesses,” Eric added.

Emily Summers from Blue Gem Wind was the third guest speaker and inspired the room with fascinating input on employment opportunities in floating offshore wind in the Celtic Sea.

The next “Skills for Tomorrow” event will be held at Cornwall College St Austell on Thursday 21st March. To find out more or to get involved, visit CCB Training.
