Whether you're looking to launch a career in the trades or sharpen your skills for personal projects, our expert instructors will guide you every step of the way

This course will run for 10 weeks, 1 day per week (Wednesday – 9am – 4pm).

Skills for Life | Skills Bootcamps

In the Welding Skills Bootcamp, students will gain a solid foundation in essential welding techniques, safety practices, and practical applications. Here's what they'll learn:

• Welding Fundamentals
• Understanding welding tools, equipment, and materials
• Basics of metal properties and preparation for welding
• Welding Safety
• Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Understanding welding hazards (e.g., fire risks, fumes, and UV exposure)
• Safe handling of welding tools and materials
• Hands-On Welding Techniques
• Setting up and operating welding equipment
• Creating clean, strong welds across different metals and joint types
• Practicing welding positions: flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead
• Troubleshooting common issues, such as poor penetration and warping
• Practical Project Work
• Applying skills to real-world projects to build confidence and proficiency
• Welding and assembling pieces to industry standards
• Career and Industry Insights
• Understanding welding certifications and qualifications
• Exploring career opportunities in construction, manufacturing, and beyond
• By the end of the course, students will have developed the technical skills and confidence needed to tackle welding challenges, whether for personal projects or a professional welding career.

Skills Bootcamps are open to anyone 19 or over, who are self-employed, employed or unemployed. For those currently not in employed, you will be offered a guaranteed interview with an employer upon successful completion of the bootcamp.
