This course is a perfect progression from the Level 1 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance Technician and develops existing knowledge by examining the components of vehicle servicing in more detail, preparing you with an advanced skillset necessary for success in a fast-moving and dynamic industry.
The Vehicle Service Technician Diploma Level 2 involves both practical workshop activities and theory sessions, making it the perfect course for you if you enjoy hands-on work and getting stuck in, and would like to develop an advanced knowledge of the automotive industry.
You will:
- Study health and safety, tools and materials, automotive job roles, batteries, wheels, tyres, brakes, exhaust systems and associated systems
- Use the latest equipment and vehicles in a realistic, industry-standard environment
- Develop soft skills, such as communication and employer expectations, to prepare you for the industry
- Have opportunities for work experience alongside your studies
- Gain the practical skills needed to complete your GCSE English and Maths
- Gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in a garage.
Our workshop features industry-standard equipment and kit, exactly like a working garage. We also have a strong partnership with the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), so employers know an automotive qualification from The Cornwall College Group means you have the very best skills as a mechanic or technician.
• Three or more GCSEs at Grade 3 or above, or successful completion of a relevant Level 1 qualification.
Entry requirements for existing learners with the Cornwall College Group
• Successful completion of previous course and, where relevant, progress in maths and/or English.

This course is an introduction to the automotive industry for students who love cars but need to improve their knowledge and skills before progressing onto a Level 2 Maintenance & Repair Diploma .
