Access courses are designed as a stepping stone to enable motivated, enthusiastic people to progress on to Higher Education.
The course is challenging and requires full attendance and absolute commitment to allow you to fully maximise your opportunities; you will have access to a range of support mechanisms to enable you to develop the key academic competencies to contribute towards successful progression.

Entry requirements
Although there aren't any specific entry requirements, all applicants will be invited to attend an Access Workshop where full course information is given and you will be expected to complete the Initial Assessment and a written exercise.
Most healthcare based university degrees now stipulate that all applicants need to have at least a C grade in english and maths, therefore priority will be given to applicants who already meet these entry requirements. On occasion, the Access and GCSE teams may allow applicants to sit one of the GCSE’s along the Access programme, but this will be at the discretion of the Course Managers and is usually only applicable if the applicant has achieved a grade D at GCSE or Functional Skills Level 2 in the relevant subject. If an applicant does not have either GCSE, it is highly recommended that they apply to Cornwall College GCSE faculty to achieve these prior to submitting an application for an Access course.
Progression
Access courses are specially designed to prepare students for entry into Higher Education and provide the underpinning knowledge and skills needed to progress to a degree or diploma course at college or university. This will provide you with the entry requirements for a range of health degrees including; Adult Nursing, Child Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy etc.
