Macro and Close-up Photography for DSLRs Workshop

At this workshop you will learn how to set up and use equipment to give high quality close-up and true macro images (a range of alternatives will be available to try – Close-up filters, extension tubes, bellows, macro lenses and reversing rings). Also covered will be the theory and practice of lighting a variety of subjects, the use of focus stacking to extend depth of field, processing of RAW images off-camera to give highest quality results and preparing the best image for printing. Beginners Guide To Digital Photography (Evening)

This course is aimed at beginners who will learn the basic use of a digital camera. With simple techniques to improve portraits, landscapes, travel photography, special occasions, and competition entries. You will learn what the controls on your camera are for, and how settings can be used to give effects that can enhance your images. This will include an understanding of exposure and what settings combine to give the right results; what types of image file and colour settings are the best for your camera; basic control of natural, artificial and flash lighting and basic use of photo software; tips for improving the composition of landscapes, portraits, nature and close-up (macro) images. Students are encouraged each week to try out what they have learnt and the photographs are viewed by the group the following week. Please bring your camera to the class and, if you already have one, a tripod may be useful. This course is now full. Silver Jewellery - Beginners (Evening)

This course is designed for the beginner or those with very little experience. It will cover a variety of techniques to produce beautiful, individual jewellery in copper and sterling silver with the aim to wear them once complete. The techniques taught will include an introduction to piercing, ring sizing, filing, texturing and finishing. Materials are provided for the first project and your tutor will advise you of where you can buy any further materials you need. Please wear old clothes or bring an apron to protect your clothes and footwear should not be open toed. Please bring a note pad and pen. These courses are now full. Silver Jewellery - Improvers (Evening)

This course is designed for individuals who feel confident using basic jewellery techniques, such as those taught during the beginner course, e.g. soldering, piecing, filing etc (please see Silver Jewellery Beginners course description). This course will enable the participant to create lovely silver jewellery with bezel set semi-precious stones advancing to the skill of setting popular locally found sea glass and will also include guidance on how to apply these techniques to design and make your own individual jewellery. Themed Nails

Silver Bangle & Charm Beginners Jewellery Workshop
