College Launches Creative Competition for Local Schools

Cornwall College St Austell is thrilled to announce the launch of ‘My Cornwall’, an art and photography competition designed to ignite the creativity of local school pupils and celebrate the beauty and culture of Cornwall.

‘My Cornwall’ invites young artists and photographers aged 11 to 19 to explore their creativity through their chosen medium. From breath-taking landscapes to the county’s vibrant communities, entrants are encouraged to showcase Cornwall’s unique charm in their submissions.

The overall winner of the competition will be given the exclusive opportunity to exhibit their work as part of Cornwall College St Austell’s end of year exhibition at Truro Cathedral alongside college students later in the year.

Anneka Wass, curriculum area manager at Cornwall College’s Creative & Digital Academy, described the competition as “a fantastic opportunity for young artists and photographers.”

“We’re thrilled to be able to offer an opportunity for aspiring creatives to explore their creativity in a way that is both meaningful and rewarding, while celebrating the beauty and diversity of our region,” Anneka continued.

“Cornwall’s rich combination of landscapes, culture and community offers an endless source of inspiration for budding artists. We’re excited to see how participants interpret and portray the essence of Cornwall through their artwork.”

Other prizes for the competition will include online shopping vouchers.

Entries can be submitted via email to staustell@cornwall.ac.uk or dropped off at the reception of Cornwall College St Austell campus by the closing date of March 31st 2024. Each submission should be clearly marked with the participant’s name, address, school or college and contact number.
