Engineering, Physics & Maths CAVA Access to HE Diploma
Access courses are designed as a stepping stone to enable motivated, enthusiastic people to progress on to Higher Education.
This course has been designed specifically to meet the requirements of universities, who increasingly demand a substantial science and mathematics content in order to enable progression onto an engineering, science or mathematics related degree.
There is a very high level of academic and personal support throughout the course, which can help if you need to combine study with part time employment and family commitments.
Please Note: This course is only available to applicants who are 19+
What you will learn
A range of modules related to Science, Engineering and Mathematics.
Entry requirements
You will need Level 2 qualifications in Mathematics and English Language, and preferably Science.
Assessment
Expect to be assessed via a range of methods including essays, reports, timed-assessments and presentations.
Progression
This course is a suitable entrance qualification for the many engineering or science based degrees in Cornwall and throughout the country. It is also a recognised qualification that can help you gain entry into the workplace.

Case studies
I chose to study Access to HE Science: Maths and Engineering course to gain the qualifications I needed to study at university level. During my one year course I have achieved 18 distinctions and i need 15 for university. Thanks to Cornwall College Camborne and their well trained staff for providing the mathematics course to kick-start my new career, I'm off to study Secondary Mathematics with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) at University of the West of England!
I feel proud to have achieved the grades I did and feel confident that this has helped prepare me in the transition to Uni. I made some fab friends too! You need to be able to devote your time and effort to this course as it is full on and a lot can be required, however, I managed to complete this whilst juggling a part time job, boyfriend and friends. It is all achievable! The tutors are super supportive and I could not have done it without them. We were all like a little access family
