This course is ideal for practitioners who assess the achievement in vocationally-related
situations e.g. classrooms or workshops and who use the following assessment methods: assessment in simulated environments, skills tests, oral and written questions,
assignments, projects, case studies and recognition of prior learning (RPL).

This course will include a 2 day induction, plus up to 5 workshop sessions

  What You Will Learn

The background knowledge and understanding aspects of the Award and the assessor role you will be required to carry out.

  Entry Requirements

You will need to be working with/attached to an Approved Assessment Centre that is offering the QCF/NVQ Award you are planning to assess and have two real learners to assess in a simulated environment i.e. in a workshop or classroom.

This course is suitable for practitioners who need to be qualified to use all methods of assessment - i.e. those who will be carrying out the role of an assessor in a work environment and vocationally related situation (i.e. classroom/workshop/simulated environments). You can expect to work closely with at least two learners, through components of their qualification. You will meet with your Course Tutor/Assessor regularly and build a portfolio of evidence. Leading The Internal Quality Assurance Of Assessment Processes And Practice City & Guilds Certificate

Level 4 • Part-time • Cornwall College Camborne


This course is suitable for you if you are a practitioner who Leads the Internal Quality Assurance Process, within an Assessment Centre/Organisation; and have a responsibility for managing the quality of the assessment process, practice and the performance of Assessors. They may also develop systems and lead on visits from outside agencies such as Awarding Organisations. A one day induction to the course will cover the background knowledge and understanding aspects of the Award and the role as the Lead Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) you will be required to carry out. Within the Assessment Centre, you will Lead the QA process and allocate work, within your own area of responsibility. As an IQA you will also be required to work closely with at least two assessors, each with a minimum of two candidates of their own, through components of a qualification. In your role as Lead IQA, you will also work with and co-ordinate with others from External Agencies i.e. Awarding Organisations, as well as meeting with your Course Tutor/Assessor regularly and build a portfolio of evidence.
