Unvented Hot Water Supply, Commissioning & Servicing NICEIC

This course is suitable for all plumbers and engineers involved in the installation, commissioning, service and repair of hot water systems, solar thermal hot water systems or air source/ground source heat pumps. To enrol on this course, you will need: A recognised competence in a conventional fuel (i.e. gas, oil, or solid fuel) or a relevant plumbing qualification such as an NVQ level 2 or equivalent experience A WRAS approved Water Regulations qualification An Energy Efficiency qualification issued by a 17024 UKAS accredited body During this course, you will cover: Building Regulations Approved Document G Water Regulations 1999 Unvented hot water system design Installation requirements The programme is 75% theoretical with 25% practical assessment. Upon successful completion, you will have the knowledge to work safely on unvented hot water systems in accordance with all relevant legislation.

Welding Basic To Advanced (British Standard)

This is a welding course for all; if you are a complete beginner with limited welding knowledge or an advanced welder requiring the British Standard 4872 coding. The Advanced Welding is British Standard 4872 training and testing part 1 (steel) and part 2 (aluminium), the assessments are carried out by a Welding Institute Qualified, CSWIP trained Weld Tester. On this practical hands-on course, you will have the opportunity to learn various processes and procedures, whilst working towards a recognised industry standard in welding, if desired. The welding processes available are: T.I.G-Tungsten Inert Gas. M.M.A-Manual Metal ARC known as arc or stick. MIG/MAGS-Metal Arc Gas Shielded known as mig. Materials: Stainless steel, aluminium, mild steel any thickness. Positions: Horizontal, vertical H/V, flat, vertical and overhead. Training and testing on all welding processes can be delivered in your company using your own equipment, as a bespoke course. The delivery and assessments are carried out by a Welding Institute Qualified, CSWIP trained Weld Tester. PPE will be required for the course: Appropriate PPE must be worn in the workshop (cotton boiler suit and steel toe capped boots must be brought by the candidate, although we can provide gloves and masks for the duration of the course). NB. Please be aware that due to the nature of the activity, contact lenses should not be worn in the welding workshop, although glasses may be worn with safety specs or goggles over the top. DIY Cycle Maintenance Workshop

Welding Skills - ARC/MIG (Evening)

This course is perfect if you are a complete beginner or have limited welding knowledge. Ideal if you want to learn a new skill, if you are creative, if you want to repair your own car or even a garden gate. On this course you will learn a basic understanding of the different Welding processes used in industry and at home. Gaining a basic understanding of Manual Metal ARC welding (stick) and Metal Arc Gas Shielded (MIG), covering Flat and H/V single weld beads, re-joining of runs, welding outside corner joints, Butt welds and horizontal/vertical fillet welds on 3-6mm thick plate. The MIG/Mags welding section will cover the setting-up of the machine (gas, volts and wire speed etc) for correct operation to deposit welds in the horizontal/vertical and Flat welding positions, material thickness 1-6mm. " You will require fire resistant overalls and steel toe capped boots/shoes for this course. Also due to Health and Safety guidelines we would recommend that you wear glasses instead of contact lenses if you require them. This course runs on a Wednesday evening from 6.00pm to 8.00pm for 8 weeks. Energy Efficiency for Domestic Heating

Following the revised Building Regulations published April 2005, from April 2006, all installers wishing to certify their own work under Gas Safe Registration legislation, (rather than call Local Authority Building Control) must hold a certificate in Energy Efficiency for Domestic Heating. This course can help you deliver your responsibilities under the Home Energy Conservation Act. This course is also suitable for engineers working on renewable energies and wish to be registered under the NICEIC MCS Micro Certification Scheme. In order to take this qualification you must have one of the following: Appropriate NVQ Level 3/BTEC or equivalent Appropriate industry registration scheme e.g. Gas Safe Register or OFTEC-105E or equivalent At least two years industry experience of installation of domestic heating and hot water systems currently un-certificated skills equivalent NVQ Level 3 At least two years industry experience of design and advice services of domestic heating and hot water systems at NVQ Level 3 or equivalent This is a one day course and the content includes topics such as: Benefits of efficient heating and hot water Energy efficiency and the building regulations The importance of boiler efficiency The importance of an efficient hot water cylinder Domestic heating and hot water controls and Commissioning The training is designed to suit both experienced and new installers, and consists of a daylong workshop covering a range of topics, including new building regulations, climate change and high efficiency condensing boilers. This is followed by a 90-minute multiple-choice test, which if you pass, gives you the new certificate. We will also ensure you receive training material three weeks before the training for self study to be prepared for the training day. This course is ideal for registered engineers who intend to provide energy advice in the home, develop additional energy advice-giving skills, understand fuel poverty, understand the importance of energy efficiency and how to refer householders for additional assistance. After the course you will be able to certify your own work under the Gas Safe Register.
