Ceramics - Your road to wellbeing

On this course you will learn several hand-building, and clay-modelling techniques, and ceramic decorative processes. You will make functional ware and sculptural pieces for example: pots, spoons, tiles and other objects, and ornaments; and learn how to mix and use glazes. You will develop your ideas considering design, form and function before making your piece with clay. A variety of ceramic decorative processes will be explored on the course, as well as linking historical context, archaeology, and reflection on geology to create imaginative functional and sculptural pieces. The tutor will give you guidance to achieve your goals and you can adapt them to make your own creations. Your road to wellbeing courses are relaxed and informal, enabling you to improve your wellbeing and mental health, building your self-confidence, and a great way to make friends. Our courses are for anyone aged 19+, who suffers from, or who is recovering from mental ill-health. Our courses run one day per week, over 10 to 13 weeks per term. Games Design and Animation Diploma

UAL Games Design is a two year, coursework based, practically focused course where you learn the skills needed to move onto University or your first steps into the ever expanding UK games industry. We focus on the development of games and game art and assets, so you don’t need to be a coding master to succeed! From developing pixel art 2D levels to fully textured 3D environments and characters we help you bring your ideas to life through our student focused curriculum. We’ll teach you how to apply essential theories to your thinking and your game products, will support you develop your own games (both digital and physical) and take your aspirations and career aims and make them our number one goal. In the first year of the course you will even create a fully realised board game, use 3D printing techniques and a full production process to launch the product in a live premiere event – and all in just ten days! Making use of the most up to date games development and digital media software you will learn to create with Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Animate, After effects and more...3d modelling software such as Autodesk 3ds Max and Autodesk Maya. Game engines like Construct 3 and Ue4 and learn to work with the latest gadgets like the Oculus Rift Virtual Reality System. This course is offered at both our Camborne campus and our St Austell campus where you will benefit from access to everything that we offer in the Dance, Drama, I.T and Multimedia courses and will be involved in developing our social media presence through Instagram, YouTube and Facebook. Art & Design Practice Extended Diploma

If you love Art and Design; you get excited about finding creative solutions to problems, enjoy working with your hands, investigating why and how other artists’ and designers’ work, then this is the course for you. The Level 3 Extended Diploma Art and Design is an exciting two year course; in the first year you are encouraged to explore all areas of the arts, to achieve the Diploma. You will begin to determine your specialist pathways when you progress onto the Extended Diploma, in the second year. At the start of each year you are allocated your own studio space, which you can make your own and use as a base throughout the year. In the first year you will take part in a wide range of practical workshops in our studios, in order to develop your skills in drawing, painting, working with mixed media, graphics and digital media, textiles, printmaking, ceramics, photography and 3 dimensional work. Projects and workshops are linked to relevant creative careers, to help you understand where your skills might be used, in the creative industries. The year is completed with a Final Project and a Summer Exhibition. The second year is an opportunity for you to decide on your specialist pathway, such as Fashion, Textiles, Photography, Fine Art, Graphic Design etc. All the work you have done to date is organised into a portfolio, either for job and apprenticeship applications, or university entrance via UCAS. Focused support for progression is given throughout the Autumn term, whilst practical projects continue to provide opportunities for you to take greater responsibility for your own practice, including decision making and time management. There will be an emphasis on projects negotiated between you and your tutors. This year culminates in an extensive Final Major Project, which is exhibited in the Summer Exhibition. Underpinning all aspects of the course is an engaging programme of contextual studies and you will take part in gallery and location visits, written assignments and tutorials throughout the course, as well as relevant work experience, employer-led projects, commissions and exhibitions.

HND Games Design For Industry

This skills-based programme meets the requirements of one of the fastest growing, dynamic and entrepreneurial sectors in the creative industries. Providing practical specialist knowledge to pursue a career in the game industry in paths such as an animation, level design, 3D modelling or concept art etc. Core artistic and technical skills will be developed to enable creation and building of games and content for a variety of platforms. You will gain an understanding of the broad areas of games development, ludology, VR, concept work, 3D modelling and animation, level creation, character design, motion capture, history, contextual and social issues, together with an overview of the more technical and creative aspects of the games design pipeline. Studies include formal lectures, practical workshops, trips to EGX Rezzed (London) and industry based assignments, exploring numerous aspects of digital gaming within a combined creative and technical framework; real-world tasks; creating real products through competitions, live client briefs and for the college’s own games design company; establishing a strong portfolio; web presence and showreel towards future employment. This is supported by an advanced skills and knowledge set reflecting your particular direction through the programme. You will be expected to develop an independent, autonomous practice, synthesise prior learning and present a public realisation of your work. The programme aims to facilitate within graduates an enthusiasm, curiosity and flexibility to equip you for a future in developing challenging art and design projects, whilst also operating across a range of arts careers and creative practices. The programme aims to be a unique blend of traditional, contemporary and innovative approaches to learning. The curriculum is enquiry driven to provide you with a centred active education. Chef De Partie Apprenticeship Standard

If you have a real passion or are interested in furthering your knowledge, skills and career in the hospitality industry, then this course is for you. The Chef de Partie Level 3 apprenticeship is for learners working in a wide range of hospitality settings across the service and commercial sectors. A chef de partie is responsible for running a specific section of the kitchen. This type of chef usually manages a small team of workers, which they must keep organised so that dishes go out on time and the work area remains clean and orderly, for example, sauces, pastries or fish. However, in smaller kitchens a chef de partie may work independently as the only person in their section. Also known as a station or section chef, the chef de partie reports to the senior chef and has a very important role in any kitchen. The learning journey of any chef will vary from one chef to the next but should always allow an apprentice to understand and have experience in managing other and producing food items in line with organisational specification in order to progress to any future senior chef role.
