Beauty Therapy Techniques Diploma Level 3
A progression route for Level 2 Beauty Therapists wanting to gain employment within the beauty industry. This course is aimed at learners wishing to further their existing beauty skills in advanced techniques.
Not only will you develop existing skills but you will also train in the more specialist areas such as electrotherapy and microdermabrasion.
You will be expected to attend College for three days a week and will be required to work to high professional standards. You will train in one of our industry standard salons, work in a realistic environment and use the latest equipment, machinery and products within the industry.
You will participate in work experience, external events and trips.
You will need to complete external work experience for one day a week.
What you will learn
You will get to develop your work based skills, recognising the importance of professional practice.
During the course, you will learn various advanced techniques and skills which are used by beauty therapists. You will gain the confidence and understanding of these techniques so you are prepared for work.
Areas of study include: Body Massage, Hot Stones Massage, Facial Electrotherapy, Body Electrotherapy, Indian Head Massage, Electrolysis and Microdermabrasion. In addition to all of the practical aspects of the course, you will learn salon practice, promotional activity, health and safety and anatomy & physiology for beauty therapists.
Our tutors are industry professionals and they will demonstrate the practical techniques as well as best practice so that you can be sure that you are equipped with the skills and know-how to perform these services independently.
When you are confident enough and have practiced the techniques to a level 3 standard, you will be able to provide services to paying customers in the commercial sector.
Entry requirements
You will need a Level 2 beauty qualification and a real interest in the beauty industry. You should be enthusiastic to learn a variety of advanced practical skills and the associated knowledge, which will develop your employment opportunities within the beauty therapy industry. As with all therapy professions, you will need to create the right impression with your clients and must therefore be professional, courteous and discreet. Excellent communication skills are essential.
If you are aged 16-19, you will need to have a minimum of GCSEs at grade or work experience.
At Cornwall College, we recognise that applicants without these qualifications can often offer a high level of competence as well as life experience and we will therefore consider all applications on their merits alongside their qualifications.
We'll also ask you to share why you're interested in this course. This helps us make sure the course fits perfectly with your career goals.
Work experience
You will need to undertake work experience and/or an industry placement as part of your course.

There is an opportunity to gain pass, merit or distinction.
