Cornwall College win Colleges Week #ShowYourSkills competition

Cornwall College have been announced as the winners of the #ShowYourSkills competition, as part of the Colleges Week celebrations. #ShowYourSkills organised by Association of Colleges and sponsored by Irwin Mitchell, gives colleges an opportunity to showcase the brilliant work that goes on in colleges every day. It was a tough decision this year, with colleges across the country showing off their skills, from construction to fashion design, baking to computer programming, and so much more.

Colleges Week, now in its fifth year, is an annual celebration of colleges, focusing this year on ‘staff, student, and skills’. It is an opportunity to showcase the breadth of activities that happen in colleges and the ways in which they transform lives and communities.

John Evans, Principal and Chief Executive, The Cornwall College Group:

“We are absolutely delighted to win AoC’s #ShowYourSkills competition for Colleges Week. Our students and staff have embraced this important week since it started and they are always looking at ways to outdo the previous year’s entry. I love the fact our media students created a video that captures students and staff coming together to build a bespoke pizza oven, create the grill and then a delicious heart shaped pizza to go on top. FE is about skills, students and staff. It’s about passion and getting people into careers that make a difference to their lives. It’s why we are known as #thecareercollege and it’s why we love all our campuses across The Cornwall College Group.”

Aaron Hussey, Head of Communications, Association of Colleges said:

“The skills competition is always a highlight of Colleges Week, as staff and students from across the country show off their creativity and talent. Judging is always tough and we were blown away by the quality of entries, but Cornwall College is a very worthy winner, their video highlights just some of the many ways that colleges upskill students and transform lives.”

Melanie BancroftBusiness Development Manager – Manufacturing & Education, Irwin Mitchell said:

“It was a pleasure to be part of the judging team for #ShowYourSkills competition. All those who entered demonstrated such passion for their college which made our job really hard! Congratulations to Cornwall College for showing a wide range of skills plus cleverly intertwining the love theme.”
