Coppice Theatre Christmas special spot for up and coming actor

It’s a very merry Christmas for a St Austell acting student who is celebrating after landing a role with Coppice Theatre.

This December Coppice Theatre is back in Truro with their enchanting winter storytelling show ‘Jack’s Frosty Stories 4: Adventures around the World’.

Visitors can enjoy a brand-new walk about version of their popular show with a collection of new tales that take them on a festive journey across the globe.

Acting student at Cornwall College St Austell, Rose Middleton, is Tinsel and Mittens Understudy.

Coppice Theatre use puppetry, storytelling and music to delight audiences of all ages.

Rose has been acting for 10 years and she is currently on the Launch acting course at Cornwall College, developing her skills as an actor and director.

“It’s so fun and inspiring to work in the industry alongside professionals,” Rose said.

“I’m learning so much about myself and what I want to do with my career. I’m so thankful for this amazing opportunity and I wouldn’t give it up for anything!”

Rose is also joined by former Cornwall College St Austell acting student, Maya Clarke, who is cast as Sparky.

Since completing the acting course at college, Maya has worked with multiple different theatre companies including Kneehigh Theatre.

Performing Arts Lecturer, Lydia Day, said she is “thrilled companies such as Kneehigh Theatre and Coppice Theatre are recognising our learners as industry ready.”

“Acting at The Creative and Digital Academy at Cornwall College St Austell offers an intensive training programme to ensure our learners are ambitions, passionate, committed, technically strong and multi-talented,” she continued.

“We are so thankful to Coppice Theatre for supporting in our Industry Placement scheme and taking on Rose as recruit for their Christmas performance ‘Jack’s Frosty Stories 4’.

“Rose has dreams of becoming a theatre director, so this is an invaluable experience to learn from some of the best.”

Coppice Theatre Producer, Jasmine Cole, said Rose and Maya have both “been amazing”.

“I got reports from Connie Crosby and Michael Tonkin-Jones that they were both really giving it all in rehearsals today,” she said.

“We are very pleased to have them on board. “This show was made possible thanks to the kind support of Arts Council England and Truro BID.”

Cornwall College St Austell is holding Twilight Taster sessions on Tuesday 19^th January 5 – 7pm where current Year 10 and 11 students can book a place to try a subject before they apply.
