Course information

The NPORS N601 Agricultural Tractor novice course is a training program designed for individuals new to tractor operation. It typically covers a 3-day period, focusing on safe operation, machine care, and industry best practices, leading to NPORS certification.

The NPORS N601 Novice course for agricultural tractors will teach you the fundamental skills to safely operate and maintain these machines. You'll learn about the tractor's components, pre-use checks, how to attach and detach implements, and safety procedures for various scenarios, including loading, unloading, and identifying hazards.

The course also covers theory and practical assessments to ensure you're competent and ready to pass the test.

The Novice training course is for candidates who have limited or no demonstrable practical experience of operating the category of plant in a construction environment. Candidates must have passed the CSCS Health and Safety test (within the last 24 months).

Candidates must complete an end of course practical assessment and knowledge test that has a clear pass or fail criteria as set out by the card scheme.
