Dog Training and Husbandry Award Level 2
This course will be run over 7 days and learners will need to build a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate their understanding of the topics covered. There will be both written and practical elements, and learners may be required to complete some work at home. This course would be suitable for pet owners, as well as those that work within the canine industry and could be funded depending on personal circumstances.
What you will learn
The course requires completion of 3 units:
• Caring for a Dog
Learners will be able to demonstrate their ability to care for a dog by grooming, feeding, walking and enriching a dogs life. Learners will be able to identify common symptoms of illnesses in dogs.
• Dog Anatomy, Physiology and Behaviour
Learners will be able to identify various parts of the dog’s anatomy and to have a basic understanding of dogs needs. Learners will understand their legal responsibility of owning a dog.
• Dog Training Methods
Learners will understand why training a dog is beneficial to dog and owner. The learner will understand how to train basic behaviours and recognise that different breeds of dog are more suited to learning some behaviours than others.
