The first thing you’ll notice about this course is that it’s about practical learning – you’ll be spending a lot of time in our workshop, learning by doing as you work on a range of materials and tools. Which will be supported by theory lessons to underpin your knowledge.

A Level 2 apprenticeship course, this is all about advancing your knowledge in the bricklaying industry and developing your essential skills. You’ll be learning from experienced and professional bricklayers, who are there to give you the very best start to your career.

We do everything in our workshop: from brick to block work, line work, piers, corners, one brick thick walls, cavity walls, arches and much more. We work very closely with employers to make sure you will have the right skills and knowledge to support local needs and keep you working!

The average?Bricklayer?salary in United Kingdom is £39,098 per year or £20.05 per hour. Entry level positions start at £23,414 per year while most experienced workers make up to £52,000 per year.

Our workshop features industry-standard equipment and kit, exactly like a working site. We also have a strong partnership with the local businesses, so you will be learning what the market needs. We work closely with your employer to support you in your travel to be a great tradesperson.

  What You Will Learn

We do everything in our workshop: from brick to block work, line work, piers, corners, one brick thick walls, cavity walls, arches and much more! We work very closely with employers to make sure you will have the right skills and knowledge to support local needs

You will also be collecting evidence from work to show your competency in the job. You will complete job knowledge tests as well as record on the job training.

  Entry Requirements

GCSEs grade 4 in maths and English L1 apprenticeship

  Assessment

You will be assessed through online assessment, practical assignments and through multi-choice exams.

  Progression

Once you’ve finished the Level 2 course, you’ll have a real understanding of basic bricklaying and be ready to move on to the more advanced Level 3 apprenticeship courses.

Gas Engineering Apprenticeship

If you are a practical person, who enjoys a challenge, problem solving and making a real difference in people’s lives, then a career as a gas engineer could well be the path for you. You will spend time learning gas theory here with us at Cornwall College covering all aspects from natural gas combustion to gas appliance installation. We build a good understanding of the science and meaning behind gas appliances and how they work and test our understanding by getting hands on in the work shop and of course, you’ll be working with qualified engineers, meeting the required criteria, in the workplace. To undertake this course no prior knowledge of plumbing or gas is required however it would be an advantage if you have some experience. All subjects will be covered whilst attending the course, however some homework and additional study will be required in your own time. We have built you a strong online moodle page full of information, power points, handouts, work sheets and mock papers to help you revise at your own pace.. Moodle is a great place to pick up required resources on the days that you are not attending college. With determination and a keen spirit, the hard work will pay off in only 2 years when you will achieve a City & Guilds level 3 Diploma in Gas Engineering.
