Gym Instructing and Personal Training Diploma Level 3

This course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills required to embark on an exciting and rewarding career as a gym instructor and/or personal trainer.

This qualification is mapped to the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) professional standards and puts our graduates in the best possible position to start a successful career in the fitness industry. The course combines elements of theoretical and practical learning on campus alongside use of a state-of-the-art facility at The Zone Callington.

You will be carrying out fitness assessments, designing personal fitness programmes using the latest training methods, as well as developing your soft skills. In addition, you will be learning the tools required to provide nutritional advice and how to support a client’s physical activity programme.

Our teaching staff have a wealth of industry experience and will guide you every step of the way, enabling you to progress towards an exciting and rewarding career as a personal trainer!

Learners successfully completing this qualification will be able to gain entry to the CIMSPA Exercise and Fitness Directory as a practitioner.

PLEASE NOTE:
• Learners who are still 18 on 31st August would be eligible for full funding to complete the course
• For those aged 19+, the course can be self-funded or funded via an advanced learner loan.

What you will learn

This qualification will be delivered by Duchy College staff using the brand-new state of the art facilities at The Zone Gym in Callington. In addition to working on aspects of your own fitness you will learn all aspects of how to support clients to achieve their goals covering a range of units such as:

Conducting client consultations and gym inductions.
Maximising the client experience in a gym environment.
Programming personal training sessions.
Business acumen for personal trainers.
Supporting client health and well-being.
Anatomy and physiology for exercise.
Nutrition to support a physical activity programme.

The course will be assessed in a variety of different methods including written coursework, practical assessments and presentations in order to ensure learners are well rounded practitioners upon completing the programme.
