City & Guilds Award in Education and Training
This programme provides candidates with an introductory qualification in teaching within the further education and skills sector.
Candidates will study the fundamentals of teaching within the sector, including the roles and responsibilities of teachers, equality, diversity and inclusion, sequencing of learning and how to successfully plan, deliver and assess taught lessons.
Please note: There is no requirement to hold current teaching hours in order to study this course.
What you will learn
Students can expect to cover a range of theories, policies and procedures designed to give an introduction into teaching in the FE and skills sector.
Modules include:
- Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
- Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
- Understanding assessment in education and training
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, but candidates are required to hold a Level 3 vocational qualification in the area they wish to teach if they are to progress into teaching in the Further Education and skills sector (including the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training).
Assessment
Assessment on this programme consists of a series of assignments and presentations, as well as practically via a microteach.
Progression
On completion of this course, graduates may choose to pursue further study via the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training or PGCE / Cert. Ed.
