What you will learn

This program offers aspiring students an opportunity to delve deeper into the dynamic world of creative industries, empowering them to discover and refine their own unique artistic talents. Through this course, you'll have the chance to explore various specialised areas within the creative realm, allowing you to tailor your studies to match your passions and career aspirations.

From the outset, you'll have the freedom to chart your own course, selecting from a diverse range of creative disciplines to focus on. Through hands-on learning experiences, you'll acquire the practical skills and theoretical knowledge needed to thrive as a creative professional.

During the initial year of the program, you'll work towards earning your Diploma, laying the foundation for your creative journey. Upon successful completion, you'll have the opportunity to seamlessly progress to the second year to attain the full Extended Diploma, further enhancing your expertise and qualifications in your chosen field.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including English and/or Maths. Bring portfolio to interview.

Work experience

Students must complete 60 hours of work experience each year.

Assessment

You will be assessed in a range of developmental projects throughout the year, with feedback from staff identifying your strengths to develop and skills to improve. Once those formative modules are complete, you will design, pitch and create your own final project that will determine your mark for the entire body of work.

This will be graded at either a PASS, MERIT or DISTICTION, and these can take any form; from Drawing skills, printmaking, painting, curation, graphic design, photographic exhibition…anything that demonstrates your skills and learning!

Our students often progress straight onto degree courses in a variety of disciplines. In the past our learners have progressed onto degree courses in Fashion, Fashion Illustration, Pattern Cutting, Fashion merchandising, Illustration, Fine Art, Game Art, Digital Animation, Sculpture, Graphic Design, Textile Design, Games Design, Press and Editorial Photography and Fine Art Photography, in universities all over the country.

Alternatively, some students have set up their own freelance small businesses alongside other paid work or looked for apprenticeships in the creative industries.
