Opportunities showcased at Cornwall’s only specialist marine college

Falmouth Marine School is to showcase the incredible opportunities available for those looking to begin a nautically themed career with a virtual event this month.

Former students of the renowned facility have gone on to successful careers in marine engineering, boatbuilding, water sports, marine biology and more – careers which have taken them to glamourous locations across the globe.

Taking place on Saturday, March 27 potential students and their families will hear more about the range of post-GCSE and degree-level courses on offer at the specialist college.

Tutors and industry experts will be sharing information about the courses available, the support students can expect to receive and showcasing the fantastic range of equipment available on site.

Head of Campus, Steve Taylor, said the event provides “the perfect opportunity for potential students to find out about the opportunities we have available”.

Visitors to the online event will have the chance to watch live presentations by the college’s expert team and ask questions through a live chat.

“We are the only specialist marine college in Cornwall and our provision covers everything from marine biology and science, to boatbuilding and marine engineering,” Steve explained.

“Modern marine careers can be extremely rewarding and exciting, giving many students the chance to travel the globe carrying out conservation work, taking part in research projects and even joining superyachts crews,” Steve continued.

“We offer post-GCSE courses and also university level courses, so students who don’t wish to leave Cornwall can still obtain a quality degree before entering employment and the Cornwall College Group has more students graduate with us than any other college in Cornwall.

“As well as delivering fantastic courses, we also have lots of amazing links to industry with many partners based around Falmouth and the South West. These links give our students access to network and career opportunities, providing a boost for their chosen careers.”

Falmouth Marine School is part of The Cornwall College Group, which has been investing heavily in its campuses, student experiences and staff training and was recently awarded the highest possible judgement in an Ofsted monitoring visit.

If you’re interested in studying with Falmouth Marine School, you can find out more at a virtual taster event on 27th March. Book your place HERE
