Graduate Artists Shine at Debut Exhibition

Cornwall’s thriving art scene welcomed a fresh new voice, with the debut exhibition of a talented group of recent graduates from the Cornwall College University Centre.

‘The Owreck Collective: One Year On’, held at Falmouth gallery The Poly, was a multi-disciplinary celebration of work created by six talented Cornwall-based artists, all who met while studying on the BA(Hons) Art & Design Practice programme at Cornwall College’s Camborne campus.

The captivating exhibition, including disciplines ranging from ceramics and painting to photography and collage, was a showcase of their individual artistic journeys since finishing the degree programme.

Owrek Collective artist Michelle Redmore, noted the crucial role the degree programme played in shaping their collective journey.

“We could not have formed our art group without the knowledge gained and the friendship group created by attending the course at Cornwall College University Centre. We are all extremely thankful for the support and the confidence this programme has given us,” Michelle continued.

Jamie Hanson, senior study programme manager for higher education art and design at Cornwall College Camborne, expressed pride in The Owrek Collective’s achievements since their graduation.

“As a university centre we nurture talent, skills and passion. The success of this exhibition is testament to the dedication and creativity fostered within our Art & Design Practice programme. We look forward to seeing what fascinating artwork The Owrek Collective will produce in the future,” added Jamie.
