Cornwall College Krakens to host eSports Festival
Cornwall College Krakens are proud to announce fun and competitive Esports Festival, taking place on Thursday, 9th February at Cornwall College St Austell campus.
The festival will feature 16 teams representing businesses across Devon and Cornwall.
With fierce competition in various popular esports games offering an exciting experience, each team will have the opportunity to demonstrate their communication skills, strategy, and team-work.
The top three teams will go on to compete in the final round, held at Exeter College in June.
Esports is a multi-billion-dollar industry that has captured the attention of millions of fans and spectators worldwide.
The industry is constantly growing, with a recent survey by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) shows that 48% of gamers are now women and 29% identify as people of colour.
“This is an amazing opportunity for local businesses to take a step into the growing sector of Esports and competitive gaming.” Highlighted Steve Thompson, Director of Businesses Innovation and Partnerships at The Cornwall College Group.
The possibilities within Esports are extraordinary and we are thrilled to follow the Cornwall College Krakens as they lead this year’s Esports festival.
“The team has already shown incredible enthusiasm and have recently won their first Overwatch 2 match in the British Esports student championships.” Steve Thompson added.
The festival will be Live-Streamed, you can follow all the action on our Twitch channel.
