The best pastry chef in the world’s visit to England is proving to be the must have ticket in the UK’s culinary calendar, with all his two-day workshop spaces sold out.
But chef Ewald Notter from Switzerland is ensuring professional and enthusiastic amateurs are getting their once-in-a-lifetime chance to learn from the master, with a series of demonstrations taking place in Cornwall.
Held in a purpose-built, TV-style demo kitchen on Cornwall College’s Camborne campus, ticket holders will see Ewald perform and have the opportunity to ask questions.
Two demonstrations are planned at just £50 a ticket per person, the first session on 21 February will focus on Ewald’s famous sugar work, while attendees of the 22 February demonstration will be given the secrets of mastering chocolate.
Grant Mather, Curriculum Lead Professional Cookery said the level of interest for Ewald’s visit has “been amazing”.
“This is the first time Ewald has conducted a dedicated series of workshops in the UK and we are delighted to welcome him to the best catering college in the South West,” he added.
Both sessions will see the renowned chef use his skills to create some inspirational showpieces, allowing visitors the opportunity to watch the world’s best perform in an up close and personal setting.
Grant continued: “For anyone with an interest in pastry, sugar work and chocolate showpieces, this really is an opportunity not to be missed. Ewald’s visit is going to be pretty special and we’ve had enquiries from as far afield as Scotland. As well as experiencing and learning from the great champion himself, everyone will also get to have lunch in our AA college Rosette restaurants and have the chance to meet and have photos taken with Ewald.”
Chef Notter is known as the innovator and a master of modern-day confectionery arts; with a slew of awards under his belt, which includes being the first pastry professional to be inducted in the Pastry Art and Design Hall of Fame.
The sold out workshop, which has attracted both professional chef and keen amateurs, will be conducted at Cornwall College St Austell and will offer a truly unique learning experience for everyone involved.
