Marine Biology and Watersports students from Falmouth Marine School spent their final week of term in Vasiliki in Greece.

All qualified divers on the trip completed dives according to their certified level with Nautilus Diving. The manager was so impressed with the skills of the students that he offered them employment over the summer.  Chris Rogers and George Crust jumped at this opportunity and they fly out this week.

George commented:  “The diving in Greece was amazing; I can’t wait to start working out there as a dive instructor.  I had my diving qualifications before I started my course at Falmouth Marine School but I have had loads of opportunities to develop my skills further during my course.”

All of the students on the trip had a certified lesson in Windsurfing, Sailing and Powerboat Level 2, with the opportunity to complete a qualification.

Marine Biology student Eloise Kennedy gained her RYA Level 1 sailing qualification.  She said:  “It was great learning how to sail and even better to come away with another qualification.  I am going to Plymouth University to continue my studies in Marine Biology; the trip was the perfect way to celebrate my time at Falmouth Marine School.”

In addition to the structured qualifications, sessions in kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, mountain biking and fitness were offered daily.  The students also enjoyed an excursion to the Waterfall at Nidri and a boat tour around the Ionian Islands.

Programme Manager Angela Webster commented:  “The trip was a great success and I will be booking the same venue for next years’ trip which will include the Boatbuilding and Marine Engineering students.   The students work incredibly hard to complete their programmes of study; end of year trips like this are a great way to celebrate their efforts and provide them with some extra qualifications and experiences to put on their C.V.  And for some gain a summer job.”
