New businesses often take years to become profitable, but a student in Cornwall has found success in a matter of months thanks to offering a new facelift technique in the county.
Natasha Capsey, 34 from Uxbridge, is a Cornwall College student on a degree level course in Salon Management, but set up ‘Beauty by Natasha’ in April last year.
Operating out of Vicky’s Nails, Hair and Beauty salon in Indian Queens, Natasha is one of the first beauty therapists to offer Crystal Clear microdermabrasion in Cornwall, a non-surgical face lift, and she is already boasting a waiting list of clients even well established businesses would dream of.
Small businesses accounted for 99.3% of all private sector businesses at the start of 2016, according to Federation of Small Businesses, and Natasha said she can understand why as she “enjoys the independence” of running her own operation.
“I can still take my children to school in the morning and pick them up in the evening if I choose,” she continued.
“I think the most important thing when setting up your own business is believing in what you do. I very much believe in the beauty side of things. You’ll always need a beauty therapist just in the same way you will always need an undertaker.”
Salon Management lecturer Paula Riley, said Natasha “is a credit to the College and also the beauty therapy industry”.
“She has worked so hard and we are delighted to see her achieve the success she so deserves. She is in inspiration to the profession of beauty therapy,” she added.
Natasha also wanted to thank her tutors for their ongoing support.
“The way the lecturers on the Cornwall College Beauty Therapy courses teach is amazing; they have inspired me to teach in the future,” she added.
