A group of local students have gained fantastic work experience by assisting at this year’s Ivybridge 10k.
Level 3 Sports Massage students from Cornwall College Saltash provided pre and post sports massages for the runners taking part in the race.
Student, Natasha Guy, said she “really enjoyed attending the event”.
“It was a great learning experience and I feel it has really helped build my confidence.”
Fellow student, Angela Murns, agreed that it was a “really valuable experience”.
“Around 850 runners took part and to put into practice some of what we have learnt in the classroom is great,” she continued.
“I would really recommend the Sports Massage course at Cornwall College Saltash, I’m sure you wouldn’t get this experience elsewhere.”
Sports Massage Lecturer at Cornwall College Saltash, Mark Sully-Metters, said the events that students attend is “an important part of the course”.
“The students deliver valuable pre and post event massages which the athletes find extremely beneficial,” he explained.
“The students work hard at these events but it is a great learning process and confidence builder. It helps to develop their skills as sports massage therapist.”
