Students in Cornwall and Devon, and those looking to return to education to realise their dream careers, are getting the opportunity to explore the modern facilities and wide range of courses on their doorstep.
Cornwall College Saltash is opening its doors to prospective students on Saturday 16th March between 10am and midday, where everyone is welcome to explore the campus and ask questions about their career options.
Head of College, Margaret Butfield, said the event would be the “perfect opportunity” for people to learn about the many ways in which they can achieve their goals.
“We are very proud at Cornwall College Saltash to be able to provide industry-standard training facilities including hair and beauty salons, a state-of-the-art training kitchen and a construction skills training centre,” she continued.
“It means we can provide our students with all the experiences and skills necessary for excelling in their future careers.”
The College has recently opened its Dynnargh restaurant to the public, which will provide even more opportunities for the students.
Professional Cookery and Hospitality students have recently triumphed in a prestigious regional cooking competition, winning a haul of 13 medals at the Major Series South West regional heat.
“Although students now have to stay in education until they are 18, it does not necessarily mean they have to do so at a school 6th form,” Margaret continued.
“They have the choice of a college course or apprenticeship and this event will help them with that decision making process.”
The College also offers a wide range of course types and progression routes, starting at entry-level and continuing right up to degree-level study.
There are also numerous options to study on full- and part-time courses as well as NVQs and apprenticeships.
The course offering at the Saltash campus includes; Access to Higher Education, AAT, Professional Cookery and Hospitality, Early Years (degree level), Plumbing, Carpentry, Hairdressing, Beauty and Vocational & Work-related Studies.
“I would advise those looking into their options for further study from September to come to our event and find out more,” Margaret continued.
“Friendly and knowledgeable advisors will be on hand to offer insights on all aspects of college life including courses, study programmes, transport, learning support, Cornwall College’s excellent Students’ Union and numerous sporting activities.”
