Get hired now with local employers

FOR THOSE people looking to start or change their career through an apprenticeship, The Cornwall College Group (TCCG) will be running a recruitment event at its Saltash, St Austell and Camborne campuses on Wednesday 20th April 2016 to help businesses in the region sign up motivated and talented apprentices.

Those that attend the event, which takes place between 5pm and 7.30pm at the campuses, will be able to meet the companies who are currently recruiting for new apprentices, including Wrigley’s, BD, Blue Flame (Cornwall) Ltd, Francis Clark, Danish Crown, Ocean Housing Group, Bishop Fleming, Sharps Brewery, Redrow Homes Limited, Eden Project, The Clock Garage, Parkdean Holidays and Naturally Learning to name a few.

TCCG currently has over 100 vacancies in a range of subject areas including agriculture, business, construction and the built environment, engineering, hairdressing, horticulture, and hospitality and catering; IT in a range of levels from intermediate to higher level.

TCCG which incorporates Duchy College, Falmouth Marine School, Bicton College and Cornwall College Business (CCB) are the largest provider of apprenticeships for 16-18 year olds in the South West and the 25th largest provider out of 770 providers nationally. The Group continues to grow ahead of projections and is working hard to support employers with the new trailblazer apprenticeships frameworks.

At the apprenticeship recruitment event not only will visitors be able to apply for one or more of the apprenticeship job vacancies, but they will also be able to find out how they can earn real wages, learn new skills, meet current apprentices, managers and college tutors and get help with CV writing and interview tips. Staff are at hand to offer advice and guidance to any questions parents or cares  have about apprenticeship along with a screening of the recently developed ‘Apprenticeship Legends’ documentary.

Sally Foard, Director of Development and Adult Learning with The Cornwall College Group, said: “An apprenticeship is a way for young people and adult learners to earn while they learn in a real job, gaining a real qualification and a real future. An impressive 90% of apprentices stay in employment after finishing their apprenticeship and 83% said that their ability to do the job and their career prospects had improved.”
