People across Devon who are looking to become an apprentice are being urged to attend a Get Hired apprenticeship recruitment event.

Held on Wednesday 25th April at Bicton College in Budleigh Salterton, the event run by CCB Training is from 5pm to 7pm.

Employers attending with current apprenticeship vacancies include Rothamsted Research which is looking to recruit a Level 3 Laboratory Apprentice and Gary’s Gardening Services, looking to take on a horticulture apprentice.

Attendees can also find out about the new Level 4 Agriculture Business Management Apprenticeship and the new Level 3 Dairy Apprenticeship delivered in partnership with Synergy Farm Health.

The Apprenticeship Recruitment Team has more than 25 vacancies in agriculture, animal care, butchery, business administration, equine and much more.

Phil Le Grice, Head of Bicton College and Director of Rural Economy for The Cornwall College Group, said an apprenticeship “enables young people and adult learners to earn while learning on the job, gain a real qualification and a real future”.

“Whether it’s your job or your next step, being an apprentice means being fully employed with all the usual staff benefits, plus studying with industry experts who offer great support,” he continued.

“We are the largest provider of apprenticeships in the South West, and work with thousands of businesses and individuals across the region every year. Our experienced apprenticeship recruitment team work hard to match individuals with inspiring employers.”

Jonathan Cresswell (FIScT), Head of Apprenticeships at the University of Exeter said the university had “established a good working relationship with the Cornwall College Group as one of our approved apprenticeships training providers”.

“They provide the essential support, both academically and administratively that we need to be able to employ high-quality apprentices at our campuses in Exeter and Penryn,” he continued.

As well as being able to meet with employers who are looking to recruit apprentices, the event will enable individuals and parents/carers to find out more about apprenticeships at a presentation starting at 6.15pm, plus gives them the opportunity to speak to current apprentices and college tutors, apply for apprenticeship vacancies and get help with CV writing and interview tips.
