Duchy College scoops first round area festival

It has been announced by British Dressage that Duchy College Equestrian Centre has been allocated the First Round Area Festival for the next three years.

British Dressage has restructured this very popular competition to give riders a greater opportunity to compete at championship level.  Full members of British Dressage have the opportunity to qualify by achieving three affiliated scores of 62% or above at Preliminary to Elementary level or two affiliated scores of 60% and above at Medium – Inter II level (these must include at least one qualifier).

Lucy Baker who took the FEI Prix St Georges title on her horse Ferdinand Fardoos, when Duchy College last held the championship in 2014, said: “Massive congratulations to the team at Duchy College, very well deserved. The College is a fantastic venue with superb facilities. Everyone is so friendly and helpful it’s always pleasure to compete there.”

Team Lead for Equine, Nicky du Plessis said: “I am delighted that British Dressage has allocated Duchy College with First Round Area Festival for the next 3 years.  Both myself and the team pride ourselves on delivering a high quality competition experience which we look forward to taking forward to this prominent championship.”

The first Championship will run from 11th August 2017 to 13th August 2017.

Head of Campus, Rob Dunn said:  “I am absolutely delighted that Duchy College under the leadership of Nicky du Plessis has once more been allocated the southwest area festival for the next three years.”
