Hard working guide dogs have been given a spa day of pampering thanks to Duchy College Rosewarne.
Duchy College Rosewarne’s dog grooming salon groomed the dogs for free as part of activities for diversity week.
Student on the Dog Grooming Level 2, Lisa Roskelly, 34, from Pool, said “I think it’s fantastic that we are pampering guide dogs today. For all that they give it’s nice to be able to give something back to them.”
“I have a real passion for Dogs. Growing up I never had a dog but I knew I wanted to work with them from a young age” he added.
“I did animal care at school and then came to Duchy College, about nineteen years ago, to do Dog Behaviour and Dog Grooming. I went on to work at a Kennels where I have worked for fifteen years and just fancied a little change but to still work with dogs.”
The Guide Dogs were given a bath, groom and a proper pamper in Rosewarne’s state of the art facilities. Which are some of the leading facilities in the region, with services on offer such as ear cleaning, claw trimming, groom out, bathing, fluff drying, clipping, scissoring and hand stripping.
With prices starting from only £10 you can afford to take your dog every time they roll in the mud.
Guide Dog Owner, Liz Hargreaves said: “Scooby is my seventh Guide Dog and without them I couldn’t have done half of what I’ve done over the years. It has allowed me to be free and independent. “
“I feel that if I want to go and catch a bus and come into Camborne or if I want to go visiting friends I can do it and I don’t have to rely on someone to take me. It’s just lovely having that sense of freedom. “
“The dogs become part of lives, my dogs are as important to me as my right arm, you know they are part of us, part of our living and without them I couldn’t get around and do what I do.”
Curriculum lead for animal science, Carol Knight, said: “We all deserve a bit of pampering, even our four-legged friends. So if your dog is having a bad hair day this is a great opportunity for canine-owners in the Camborne and local surrounding area to treat their pooches to a wash and groom.”
“All our students are supervised by seasoned professionals with years of experience and with a behavioural expert on hand your dog you dog is guaranteed a relaxing grooming experience in a safe and friendly environment.” She continued.
