Agatha Christie conundrum at Keay Theatre

Keen young murder mystery performers took part in an Acting Summer School that would make Agatha Christie proud.

Past, present and prospective students from Cornwall College, along with students from Brannel, Penrice, Poltair and Truro School worked closely with specialist performing arts lecturers to present a murder mystery performance to family and friends.

A record 40 students attended the workshop and using the Cornwall College St Austell campus for their performance – including the Keay Theatre.

Based around a traditional murder mystery, the students inspected a crime scene and interviewed five suspects to help find the culprit.

The students delivered their findings to an audience of parents, friends and teachers, taking on the roles of detectives, suspects and interrogators. The piece was created so that the audience could decide who had committed the crime.

Course Manager and Performing Arts Lecturer Lydia Day said the atmosphere was “electric”.

“I can’t believe how confident and creative all of the attendees are, they were thoroughly engaged throughout and it’s been a joy to work with them,” she added.
