This course is perfect if you are a complete beginner or have limited welding knowledge. Ideal if you want to learn a new skill, if you are creative, if you want to repair your own car or even a garden gate. On this course you will gain a basic understanding of the different Welding processes used in industry and at home. You can choose from some or all of the following welding processes including: MMA-Manual Metal ARC (Stick) MAGS-Metal Arc Gas Shielded (Mig) TIG-Tungsten Inert Gas GAS-Oxy-Acetylene You could cover Flat and Horizontal/Vertical (downhand), single weld beads, re-joining of runs, build-up weld runs to form a weld pad, welding Tee fillet and Butt welds, Inside and Outside Corner Joints on 1.6 – 6mm thick mild steel.

Andy is the Course Manager for Welding qualifications across our Cornwall College  sites and also works  as part of our ACL team to deliver basic welding skills. He brings a wealth of qualified knowledge, skills and experience. Andy joined the college 25 years ago to teach welding and fabrication after a successful career in the industry. He is a licensed welder approval tester, lecturer, trainer and assessor. Whilst at the college Andy has developed and delivered welding and fabrication courses including the evening classes. He works closely with the local industry to deliver a quality industrial provision within the engineering welding section.
