Falmouth Marine School Falmouth LEVEL: 2 Marine & Natural Environment

Located in one of the most beautiful coastal regions of the UK, this Falmouth-based programme provides a proven track record of success in developing the academic potential of students, which enables them to progress on to some of the most prestigious marine-based academic institutions in the world, or obtain employment within this expanding and exciting career path.

The newly constructed and equipped campus provides an almost unprecedented level of access to the diverse marine ecosystems of the South West peninsula. We have one of the largest aquatic teaching facilities in the UK, with research tank systems that include sharks, coral, seahorses, octopus and many more.

The practical nature of our courses provide you with the opportunity to conduct studies both on and around the water along Cornwall’s fantastic coast, aided by the use of boats specialised for marine research. Cornwall has almost 300 miles of coastline and a rich variety of marine habitat and industries so there is no better place to study.

All of our courses give you the right skills to develop a career in this area and many courses have work experience, employer links and research project opportunities that will position you with employers and research organisations working in the marine sector.

PROFILE

Angela Webster Marine Biology Level 2 Course Manager

Angela’s area of expertise within marine biology and ecology is conservation; specifically looking at the ever increasing issues surrounding marine pollution of invasive species and the effectiveness of environmental management. Angela is an experienced diver and enjoys being able to provide students with the opportunity to scuba dive, where each year a record number of students complete  their PADI qualification. Leading on from this the students are then able to put their new skills into practice during a field trip abroad, which Angela organises.

“The range of field trips undertaken at Falmouth Marine School gives all students the opportunity to develop valuable practical survey skills, in and around Cornwall’s beautiful marine environments.”
