to have completed one of the RHS level 2 certificates or full diploma or an equivalent qualification.
Understanding garden survey techniques and design principles, Understanding the selection and use of landscaping elements in the garden, Understanding the setting out and construction of landscaping elements in the garden, Understanding a range of specialist elements in the establishment of garden and urban plantings.
To achieve this Certificate you will need to pass one exam for each named subject area as listed above. The exam consists of short answer and long answer questions to test your knowledge. It is possible to pass the course with a commendation subject to achieving 70% or above in each exam.
An opportunity is given to take two of the exams during February and the remaining two during July (from a September start date).
To achieve this Certificate you will need to do some research and an element of homework, probably two evenings per week.

Students who have completed this course go onto complete the RHS level 3 Diploma, or become self-employed gardeners and work for other organisations in a gardening role, plus working in plant nurseries and garden centres.
