This programme focuses on the varied and exciting area of equitation science and is designed for those who have completed an equine-related foundation degree or equivalent and would like to progress to a full honours degree.
You will investigate a wide range of aspects of equitation, applying theory to practice and making substantial use of real life scenarios and case studies. This programme will enable you to develop a deeper understanding of training and equitation techniques, applying existing and emerging technology to investigate and evaluate training methodologies and the equipment used in horse and rider training.
The advanced knowledge of equitation practice and horse welfare that you gain through studying this programme, will be applicable to horses and owners operating at both leisure and competitive levels and across all disciplines.
Areas covered in this programme include equitation science, contemporary veterinary issues, equine learning and psychology and equine and rider performance. Throughout the programme you will have the opportunity to become involved in applied research identified by the International Society for Equitation Science.
On completing the programme you will have gained a comprehensive knowledge of the principles of equitation science. You will be able to apply the skills, knowledge and personal qualities developed during your academic study to effectively facilitate the management of horses and humans, in both performance and non-performance capacities. You will be confident in the application of these principles in order to meet the requirements of employers and to fulfill your career aspirations.
You will benefit from access to a wide range of specialist equine and equitation science-related technology.
You will also have access to:
– 40 horses
– 2 indoor schools
– 1 outdoor school
