Working with animals can be an extremely rewarding career, where no two days are the same. Gain hands-on training with this Level 2 apprenticeship. You work in or would like to work in the animal management industry.
Two GCSEs at grade D or 3, you'll also need an employer willing to hire you as an apprentice; we can help you find one if need be.
To develop and demonstrate competence in a range of areas which may include: promoting and maintaining health and well-being; animal handling and grooming and delivering basic treatment.
To spend one day every two weeks on campus and the remaining days in the workplace with your employer. You’ll also work towards a Level 2 functional skills qualification in English and mathematics.

Improve your promotion prospects, progress on to further study on courses such as our Animal Management City & Guilds Subsidiary Diploma Level 3 or our Animal Management City & Guilds Extended Diploma Level 3, or an Animal Management Advanced Apprenticeship.
Jo Challacombe Technician - Animal Management
Jo manages the care of a wide range of animals at Duchy College's Stoke Climsland animal care unit and supports students on further and higher education programmes, to give them the best hands-on learning experience. Jo originally trained in equitation science before broadening her experience into understanding the needs and behaviours of a range of animals from rats and snakes to centipedes and rabbits!
