This course is an ideal introduction into the land-based agricultural industry, where you will gain the hands-on practical skills, experience and knowledge of a variety of farming disciplines, designed to prepare you for employment.

GCSE English and mathematics at grade E or 2, or equivalent qualifications at Entry Level 3.
About safe working, farm animal husbandry, crop husbandry, tractor operation, fencing, and other estate skills, whilst developing the personal skills and qualities to find and keep the job you want.
To attend college three days per week and gain hands-on practical skills, agricultural knowledge, employment skills such as using mathematics and English, managing money, getting and keeping a job, working relationships and attitudes, building your confidence and developing your self-management skills.
Working with livestock, machinery and getting hands-on.
Further study such as our Level 2 Technical Certificate in Agriculture or an agricultural apprenticeship.
Robb Dunn Head of Land-based & Food Studies
Food and farming expert Rob Dunn has recently joined the leadership team for Duchy and Bicton College had has taken on the role of curriculum lead, overseeing education provision across the region and projects such as the new Future Farm scheme; the £10 million creation of a new skills centre, dairy unit and pioneering research centre at Duchy College Stoke Climsland. Rob has worked at a number of land-based colleges around the UK. Rob also presents a weekly farming show for a Cornish radio station and is a judge for the British Farming Awards.
