Access courses are designed to prepare students for University level study in their chosen subject. This course will provide you with a solid grounding in a range of music production, technology, composition and performance skills. You will be able to chose a pathway through the course to suit your individual needs and interests.
If you choose to study the Music Production Access to HE Diploma, you’ll be based with dBs Music, our dedicated music teaching partner. We pride ourselves on providing the best possible student experience through access to excellent resources and equipment alongside inspirational teaching.
The qualification is classed as a full level 3 which gives you the points required for Foundation Degrees, HND’s and Ba courses within music and music production.

You are an adult student who hasn't studied A levels before or you wish to change career direction and pursue a role within the music industry.
There aren't any specific entry requirements, applicants are invited to an interview or audition and will be asked to bring in examples of music composition or production work previously done. Applicants will also be required to complete an initial assessment to identify any support needs.
A variety of music specialist modules, including -
- Digital mixing production
- Digital sampling
- Digital VST
- Music sequencing
- Mastering production
- Multitrack sound design
- Audio production
- Creating a website
- Researching a location for performance
- Performing new material
As well as core modules of IT, Study Skills and Maths/English as appropriate.
Hands-on learning in well-equipped production facilities.
Our state of the art facilities within dBs Music and our expert teachers who are highly experienced within all aspects of the music industry.
Progress to do one of our Foundation Degrees in either Music Performance or Music Technology or other University level courses.
Some students may wish to go straight into employment within the music industry.
